The recent Chanel Couture Spring 2014 collection showed that, whilst Karl Lagerfeld may have an aversion to sweatpants, he's not above jumping on the high fashion sneaker trend.
Pairing intricately embellished trainers with almost every look, the overall effect added a cooler, tom boy edge to the ladylike clothing designs which focussed on showing off the waist.
Whilst the looks worked as a whole, the actual shoes are a bit too clunky and gym-like for me - some silhouettes are like bedazzled Sketchers which is so not a good look. The toes and soles are mostly deeply unappealing, despite the innovative use of textures and fabrics including broderie anglais.
However, one element I absolutely love, and one which is easy to replicate without a couture budget, is the use of sheer ribbon laces. They add a pretty, ethereal quality that I'll definitely be trying.
